Grays Peak Skiing 5/11/2013
Jordan and I met up early on Saturday morning with the intention of skiing the long south face of Mt. Edwards, a high 13er just east of Grays and Torreys. Our plan was to drive Stephanie (Jordan's snowmobile) up the Peru Creek Road from the west, then climb and ski the face. Unfortunately, despite all the info on the Forest Service website to the contrary, we discovered at the TH that snowmobiles are no longer allowed on the Peru Creek Road for no apparent reason. Given that the road adds over 5 miles each way, we elected to go to plan B.
Plan B was drive Stephanie up the Stevens Gulch Road to the main summer TH for Grays and Torreys and wing it. We wound up with an excellent, long descent down the mellow north face of Grays Peak in powder snow. Our only camera was my cell phone - we took no action shots and the quality of the photos sucks - but I wanted to post these photos for beta purposes as the coverage is unreal right now.
