Kelso Mountain Skiing 5/9/2010
After many false starts, a few partners bailing, and many ideas tossed around only to be thwarted by equipment or rejected for various reasons, Lacy and I finally decided on skiing a peak neither of us had done - Kelso Mountain (13,164'), via the north couloir. Kelso is Torrey's little brother and is skied surprisingly often... access is easy and the line that you ski is very obvious from I-70. Of course, in typical Jeff and Lacy fashion, we found a variation that rarely gets done. Rather than ski the main (and unappealing) gully all the way down, we skied the upper face then traversed out onto another steeper face, giving us about 2500' of fairly continuous 40-45 degree skiing.
