Apache Couloir Skiing 7/10/2010

After looking at the Apache Couloir on my Pawnee Peaks Traverse last week, I HAD to go back up there and ski it. Fortunately, Lacy and Kim are also obsessed enough with skiing to want to hike 9 miles to ski one run in July. This trip has since taken on a special meaning for me, because two weeks later, Lacy died in a skiing accident in Rocky Mountain National Park. Lacy was one of my best friends and certainly my best ski partner, and his death hurt a lot (and still does). This trip was the last time I skied with Lacy, and the bluegrass festival we went to afterwords was the last time I saw him. I am so grateful that our last ski day together was such a perfect summer day. I miss you, homie.
