Guanella Pass Skiing 3/9/2008

Charlie, Greg, and Nate were kind enough to let me tag along on a tour near Guanella Pass. It was fun, and I learned a lot, even though I was a lot slower on the climb than everybody else. We started from the Silver Dollar Lake trailhead and skinned/booted up onto the east ridge of Squaretop. About 2000' of climbing and 4 miles round trip.

Charlie, Greg, and Nate skinning. Above this point was a good bit of dust-on-crust, steepish climbing involving some sidehilling. Turns out I totally suck at this, and the other three guys don't. The final couple hundred feet required booting.
The line. We skied the skier's left side, 1400' to the lake, although we traversed out just above it.

And Nate drops in. Conditions were 2" of fluff on top of styrofoam. The top layer sluffed off on the steepest section right at the top.
