Francie's Cabin Skiing 5/17-5/18/2008
There's a series of cabins scattered about the Colorado backcountry, mostly built by the US Army's 10th Mountain Division. One popular activity is to gather up a group of friends and reserve one of the cabins for a weekend of backcountry skiing. A crew of loosely affiliated people, mostly from the http://www.telemarktips.com forums, have done a spring trip to Francie's Cabin near Breckenridge for a couple years now, and I was lucky enough to tag along for the 3rd annual trip. We had about 25 people total, roughly 6 of whom I knew beforehand.
A full trip report can be found at http://telemarktalk.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=45939. I post as "adrenalated" and in the skiing pics, I'm wearing a red jacket, dark helmet, and white goggles. You'll have to scroll through (or perhaps be amused by) a bit of banter between trip members, but there's a lot of cool photos in there.
The trip was great and I'm looking forward to next year. It was great to ski and hang out with friends both new and old.
