Citadel Peak Skiing 5/24/2008

Lacy hiking up. We bootpacked the whole thing because most of the ascent was a gradual rising traverse that would have been a pain to skin.

When we reached a bench at treeline, the clouds lifted and revealed our destination. The slope in front of us is what we eventually decided to ski.

The high point to the left is Citadel's summit. We climbed only to the obvious saddle just left of that and checked out conditions of a line on the backside from there. The line off the summit looks very interesting, but difficult; starting just below the summit looks easier and super fun. We are also obstructing view of a number of really cool looking couloirs in the cirque at the head of Herman Gulch.

Leigh is a really strong tele skier with a powerful style.

She found some good snow. It was really fun to have an even mix of guys and girls on this trip.
