Pawnee Peaks Traverse 7/1/2010
Headed up to the Indian Peaks Wilderness to do another classic ridge traverse. For this one, I started at the Long Lake Trailhead, hiked to Lake Isabelle, then started bushwhacking. There's a little bit of Class 3 climbing to get to Little Pawnee Peak's summit (12.466'), then a hard 4th class downclimb and a lot more Class 3 climbing to get to Pawnee Peak (12,943').
For some reason, I had Damn It Feels Good To Be A Gangsta stuck in my head most of the day. I think it's because I could relate to the theme of the song (although not the specific lyrics) - freedom and confidence. Knowing that you have the skills and knowledge to travel through difficult terrain in the mountains by yourself is empowering. So, here's the soundtrack for this gallery: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8u84d7nY8pQ
I also just got a new camera. I barely know how to use it so far, but damn. Shoulda bought one of these a long time ago.
